How It’s Made (process)

  1. Feedstock prep: Food-grade propylene glycol and refined lauric acid are readied.

  2. Primary production: Controlled esterification forms propylene glycol monolaurate with targeted mono-ester content.

  3. Separation & polish: Neutralization, washing, and filtration reduce residues, color, and odor.

  4. Drying & milling: Solidified material is flaked or milled; sieved to consistent particle size for quick dispersion.

  5. Standardization/QA: Acid value, mono-ester %, melting profile, and microbiology verified; COA issued.

Suggested Dosage

General: 0.10–0.80% w/w; trial recommended.

By application

  • Dairy whips/frozen: 0.10–0.30%

  • Confectionery fillings/coatings: 0.10–0.40%

  • Sauces & dressings: 0.10–0.50%

  • Margarine/shortening: 0.10–0.40% of fat phase

  • H&B/Pharma liquids: 0.10–0.60% (base-dependent)

The laurate chain gives PGML strong interfacial activity—great for tough emulsions.
